Numbers at this year’s annual Windera Music Muster were a little down on usual … and the weather may be to blame.<\/p>\n

A storm which dumped an estimated 20mm of rain on Murgon last Saturday may have deterred some regulars from venturing west to Windera State School where – ironically – it stayed fine and sunny all day.<\/p>\n

But organisers and stallholders at the Muster remained upbeat, and the 150 people who came through the gates enjoyed a great afternoon and evening of live music at a bargain price.<\/p>\n

The Muster is an annual fundraiser for the school’s P&C and profits are ploughed back into extending the school’s facilities.<\/p>\n

The P&C’s latest project is to upgrade the canteen which serves the school’s 40 students and two teachers throughout the year.<\/p>\n

The Muster began in 2011. This year the open air concert featured many well-known country music artists including Alice Benfer, Amber Goldsmith, Bob Hunt, and Kerry Kennedy and Double Barrel.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Students from Windera State School helped launch the day with a Junior Talent Show before the main acts came on stage<\/p>\n

Alan Eagleson, from Mondee Coffee 2 Go, who had brought his mobile coffee van to the site, said he came to the Muster every year because he enjoyed country music.<\/p>\n

“There’s a very relaxed atmosphere here that’s pretty nice. So if I sell a bit less coffee than usual, it doesn’t really bother me,” Alan said.<\/p>\n

“I’m having a great time anyway!”<\/p>\n

P&C President Tim White was also relaxed about the day.<\/p>\n

“Things were a bit quiet in the afternoon but once the sun went down a lot more people came in,” Tim said.<\/p>\n

“It worked out pretty well in the end.”<\/p>\n

Natalie Jones and Jessica Beddows were both Windera State School students but now attend Murgon State High; they came back to their old school to support the Muster<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
