{"id":136146,"date":"2016-02-25T01:00:03","date_gmt":"2016-02-24T15:00:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=136146"},"modified":"2020-10-22T11:57:35","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T01:57:35","slug":"lnp-vegetation-laws-to-stay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2016\/02\/25\/lnp-vegetation-laws-to-stay\/","title":{"rendered":"LNP Vegetation Laws To Stay"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_17540\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17540\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/cripps250.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17540 \" title=\"Andrew Cripps\" src=\"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/cripps250.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/cripps250.jpg 250w, https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/cripps250-214x300.jpg 214w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17540\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shadow Natural Resources Minister Andrew Cripps<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>February 25, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State Parliament voted on Wednesday night to keep Queensland\u2019s vegetation management framework introduced by the LNP government, despite opposition by Labor and Green groups.<\/p>\n<p>Shadow Minister for Natural Resources Andrew Cripps said common sense had prevailed.<\/p>\n<p>He said the LNP amendments to a motion moved by the Katter\u2019s Australian Party received majority support in the Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Palaszczuk Labor Government is frozen at the wheel, beholden to extreme Green groups and unwilling to recognise the importance of the agriculture sector to jobs and prosperity in Queensland,\u201d Mr Cripps said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQueensland\u2019s vast agricultural opportunities are the envy of other States and the rest of the world is hungry for the food and fibres we produce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s so important we have a government in charge to support landholders\u2019 rights, but sadly with Deputy Premier Jackie Trad calling the shots, that\u2019s never going to happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mr Cripps said the motion &#8220;drew a line in the sand&#8221; that ensured the Parliament would not support any legislation that weakens rights of landholders.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe LNP\u2019s management framework is simple, it\u2019s workable and it protects the rights of landholders from Warwick to Weipa,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLabor\u2019s motivation to scrap these laws is twofold; firstly to repay the debt it owes to Green groups and secondly to undo the work of the former LNP Government in a political get-square.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQueensland deserves better than a vindictive government indebted to third parties with a short-sighted, one-track agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cripps said only the LNP was committed to supporting a management framework that was simple, that was proven to work well and fully protected the rights of all Queensland landholders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnlike Labor, the LNP wants to unleash the potential of Queensland\u2019s agriculture sector so it continues to deliver jobs and support our economy for generations to come,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>State Parliament voted on Wednesday night to keep Queensland\u2019s vegetation management framework introduced by the LNP government, despite opposition by Labor and Green groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":277528,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[3,36],"tags":[1134],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
