Maidenwell Rural Fire Brigade now has its own training area and meeting room, thanks to the demise of the local tennis club.<\/p>\n

The club’s annex, which was located behind the Fire Shed, has been renovated and linked internally to the shed.<\/p>\n

Heritage Nanango Community Branch assisted with a grant to help make the project a reality.<\/p>\n

Maidenwell Rural Fire Brigade chairman Vasil Ivanov said the new area contained toilets, a training area, meeting room and a kitchen.<\/p>\n

All it needs now is air-conditioning!<\/p>\n

The extension was officially opened on Saturday by Mick Glenny, from Heritage, and South Burnett Deputy Mayor Keith Campbell.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cr Campbell congratulated the brigade for their achievement, and their fundraising efforts which contributed $10,000 towards the project.<\/p>\n

Jane Hodgkinson, from Heritage, also said the Brigade members should be very proud of themselves and the new extension was very complementary to the old building.<\/p>\n

Brigade First Officer Richard Don thanked Heritage and the South Burnett Regional Council for their help with the project.<\/p>\n

Taromeo Rural Fire Brigade also recently celebrated extensions to their premises.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On February 13, Taromeo Brigade opened its new training facility at Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

A plaque was also unveiled outside the building in memory of local volunteer Kortney Watts who died in 2010 after collapsing at a hazard reduction burn.<\/p>\n

McEuen Rural Fire Brigade’s extension to its Fire Shed – built from funds bequeathed to the brigade, fundraising and a Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant – is also nearing completion.<\/p>\n
