What sort of aged care facilities is the South Burnett likely to need within the next few years?<\/p>\n

Over the last two decades the South Burnett Region has experienced an influx of people in the baby boom generation, thanks to the “tree-change” phenomenon.<\/p>\n

Some of these people are already entering the over 65 age group.<\/p>\n

There are also a significant number of older residents retiring from the region’s farms.<\/p>\n

And according to State Government projections, the number of people in the South Burnett Region aged 85 years and over is projected to increase in the years ahead.<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt & Benarkin Aged Care Association has identified there is a growing demand for independent living, as well as a future need for an aged care facility to accommodate this aging population.<\/p>\n

The Association is appealing for public input to ensure it can help provide the best aged care and residential facilities for our region’s aging population by 2020.<\/p>\n

It has launched an online survey today to gather data, and would like as many South Burnett residents as possible to take part.<\/p>\n

“It will only take 5 minutes of your time,” Association chairman Jeff Connor said.<\/p>\n

“But is vital that we get as many responses as possible to provide for the future needs of our community.”<\/p>\n
