Would you like to help clean up your part of the South Burnett?<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council is calling for interest from the community to participate in Clean Up Australia Day activities on Sunday, March 6.<\/p>\n

Every year the Council hosts Clean Up Australia Day events in our region, with participation numbers fluctuating significantly.<\/p>\n

So last year it trialled a new approach.<\/p>\n

“Council is calling for expressions of interest where community members registering are asked to state a locality in the region where they would like to participate on the day,” Parks portfolio holder Cr Kathy Duff said.<\/p>\n

“Council would like to encourage groups of people to get together and make a fun day of it.”<\/p>\n

Council will be co-ordinating activities in towns or locations where there is interest from the community to participate in a clean-up activity.<\/p>\n

At the moment, two sites are planned: one in Kingaroy and the other in Murgon.<\/p>\n

Alternatively, residents are can get involved by registering their own site for Clean Up Australia Day, either by visiting cleanupaustraliaday.org.au<\/b><\/a> or by phoning 1800 CUA DAY with their site location and information.<\/p>\n

Last year volunteers rolled up their sleeves at four clean-up sites around the South Burnett, ranging from the D\u2019Aguilar Highway south of Nanango to Kingaroy\u2019s Memorial Park and Somerset Street traffic island, the Ficks Crossing Recreation Area near Wondai and Ted Klohs Park in Murgon.<\/p>\n

All four sites looked significantly better just a few hours later.<\/p>\n
