October 15, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

South Burnett residents love a parade! And it was proven true again on Saturday as crowds lined Drayton Street as part of the 2012 Heritage Mardi Gras.<\/p>\n

Everything from vintage caravans to human-powered vehicles paraded up and down the street, joined by musicians, floats and even a half-scale replica of a World War I aircraft.<\/p>\n

Dancing also proved popular, with rock’nrollers (promoting next weekend’s Waterhole Rocks festival), joining line dancers and an amazing flash dance display by students, teachers and parents from Nanango State School.<\/p>\n

The parade followed the traditional King Of The Mountain running competition, which was again hotly contested. Local residents did well this year, dominating the positions on the winners’ podium.<\/p>\n

After the parade, the crowd streamed down the hill to Pioneer Park to enjoy live music, browse stalls and watch a mini-circus with budgerigars.<\/p>\n
