The Nanango Art Society held its Annual Show over the weekend to coincide with the town’s Mardi Gras Festival.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was mounted at the Nanango Cultural Centre from Friday night through to late Sunday afternoon and featured more than 100 different pieces from the Society’s 70 members.<\/p>\n

The Art Society is headquartered at the nearby Winds Of Change Gallery but according to Dean Love, founder of the Nanango Arts Network Alliance, the group had decided to mount the exhibition at the Cultural Centre simply because it was too big to fit into the Gallery’s exhibition space.<\/p>\n

Works on show included paintings (in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels); sculpture; photography; paper tole; pottery; and drawings.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was officially opened at 6:30pm on Friday night by Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington.<\/p>\n

She praised the Society’s members for their hard work putting the exhibition together and thanked them for the contribution they were making to the region’s cultural environment.<\/p>\n

Other guests at the official opening included Cr. Barry Green from the South Burnett Regional Council and his wife Mary; Nanango Art Society members, their families and friends; Nanango business figures; and art afficionados keen to cast an eye over the Society’s latest output and – in several cases – to buy artworks.<\/p>\n

Guests at the event were also treated to a generous smorgasbord of finger foods and a choice of tea, coffee, punch or wine.<\/p>\n
