Health consultant Leith MacMillan, appointed earlier this month to take over the development of the Lady Bjelke-Petersen Community Hospital, met with South Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann and local doctors in Kingaroy at the weekend.<\/p>\n

The mayor said Ms MacMillan and another consultant from her company then inspected the empty facility.<\/p>\n

“I think they were stunned by the quality of the building,” Mayor Kratzmann told southburnett.com.au<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said critics of the Council’s plan to re-open the hospital should take a walk through the facility to see exactly how much was there.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann said the consultants took away with them the charter detailing what Council wants to achieve.<\/p>\n

He said he had also received some good news, ie. the hospital would not have to reapply for accreditation with health funds.<\/p>\n

“That accreditation goes with the licence,” he said.<\/p>\n

He hoped a business plan could be developed and the licence transfer submitted before the end of February.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann said Queensland Health had also been “amazing”, helping to identify gaps in the local health system and services that are missing.<\/p>\n

He said the Private Hospital “shouldn’t have any impact on the Budget”.<\/p>\n

“It’s looking very promising,” he said.<\/p>\n
