The dead ringtail possum which was removed from Moonya St by a Kingaroy resident\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Kingaroy resident has contacted Ergon Energy after he found an electrocuted ringtail possum at the foot of a power pole in Moonya Street last week.<\/p>\n

The resident told southburnett.com.au<\/strong> this was third dead possum he had found at the foot of this particular pole, which is up the hill from Macdiarmid Street.<\/p>\n

“The cause is uninsulated dropper wires from the high voltage line to the transformer,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said the wires should be upgraded to insulated cables during routine maintenance to stop possums being killed.<\/p>\n

“The pollies state the distribution system is gold-plated\u00a0so less money is required for maintenance and more redundancies. There is still a lot that needs to be done,” he said.<\/p>\n

southburnett.com.au<\/strong> has previously reported on incidents in Kingaroy and Yarraman where ex-possums caused long blackouts.<\/p>\n
