Applications for Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s latest round of community support grants opened on February 1.<\/p>\n

TRC Environment and Community Committee chair Cr Geoff McDonald said community and not-for-profit groups in the Toowoomba Council area were welcome to apply for funding to help stage or conduct their activities or events.<\/p>\n

Applications must be lodged by March 1.<\/p>\n

Cr McDonald said the current funding program covered applications for sport and recreation, event support, community support, environment, and the culture and arts.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil appreciates the difficulty smaller groups face to find money for projects, services and facilities,\u201d Cr McDonald said.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil is pleased to offer financial assistance to a diverse range of community and not-for-profit groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrants are one way Council can give groups a helping hand to build on the sweat, toil and goodwill of volunteers.<\/p>\n

\u201cPreference is given to applications that fulfil a range of criteria covering community inclusiveness and interaction, a willingness to encourage community partnerships, upgrading facilities or services or establishing a new service, facility or initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil officers are available to offer guidance around applications. Different funding caps apply across various grant categories.<\/p>\n

\u201cInterested groups are urged to call 13-18- 72 to arrange for help with tailoring grant proposals with an officer in the relevant field.\u201d<\/p>\n

The current grant round is expected to be presented for approval by Council at its May meeting.<\/p>\n
