The South Burnett Regional Council has advised that Gordonbrook Dam will be temporarily closed from today due to high levels of blue-green algae in the water. <\/p>\n

There are many different types of blue-green algae and Gordonbrook Dam sometimes experiences very high levels of the different types.<\/p>\n

“These levels vary throughout the year and it is necessary to close the dam (water area) for public access and recreation when testing of algae indicates high levels,” a Council spokesman said. <\/p>\n

“Residents should not be concerned about the quality of their drinking water, as Council\u2019s treatment processes completely filters the water before it reaches consumers.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
