The South Burnett (Wondai), Nanango and Kumbia race clubs could all lose race meetings under recommendations from Racing Queensland to the State Government<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The threat to Queensland\u2019s Racing industry will continue as long as the Labor Government ignores industry pleas about the current state of racing in Queensland. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Racing Integrity Bill, which includes governance mechanisms which could have the potential to spell the death knell for many clubs regardless of their code, is currently before the House.<\/p>\n

You can have your say on this proposed legislation by lodging a submission with the Parliamentary Committee before January 27.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the LNP will continue to take the fight up to Labor to save our racing industry from an unfair and crippling future.<\/p>\n

Tick Line Consultation Extended<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Agriculture Minister has bowed to pressure and finally acknowledged that the original deadline of January 31 was too short for the tick line consultation. <\/strong><\/p>\n

I welcome the extension of the time for public consultation to February 29 and I’d encourage every grazier and landholder who stands to be affected to let the government know exactly how they feel.<\/p>\n

The whole consultation process on the new tick line regulations and maps has been a complete shambles and disappointingly, the Department is not organising any public meetings.<\/p>\n

They have opened up the option for hard copy submissions for those with no or limited computer access, however, you must call and request a copy on 13-25-23.<\/p>\n

Each section of the line has its own specific issues and I believe there is room for the Department to negotiate solutions with producers in certain sections of the line, rather than trying to impose a one size fits all approach.<\/p>\n

Following the Agforce Durong Tick Line meeting in early January, a second meeting has been organised by Nanango-Barkers Creek landholders on Friday, January 22 from 2:00pm at the Nanango Golf Course.<\/p>\n

There will also be two other meetings: one at Upper Yarraman Hall on January 27 from 1:30pm; and another at Proston Hall on January 28 starting at 6:00pm.<\/p>\n

Kingaroy Public Hospital Petition<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In October last year I started a petition highlighting our need for a brand new Kingaroy Public Hospital.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Securing funding for a new hospital has been my number one priority since taking on my role as the Local Member.<\/p>\n

Over the past year, I’ve asked the Labor Government many times why the Kingaroy Hospital isn’t on the priority list for replacement, given our former LNP Government had identified it at the top of the priority list.<\/p>\n

We need a brand new public Hospital and we need a commitment now.<\/p>\n

The petition closes on February 12 and I’m encouraging as many people as possible to sign so we can demonstrate the level of need in our region.<\/p>\n

Get In The Game Grants<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Congratulations to the local sporting clubs who have been successful through the latest rounds of the Get Going Clubs grants! <\/strong><\/p>\n

These are great grants for our sporting clubs which help improve infrastructure and provide funds for equipment, come and try days, workshops and training for our volunteers.<\/p>\n
