The South Burnett XI have earned the right to host the Goodchild Shield final in Kingaroy despite a narrow loss to Gympie on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Bush Pigs fell just five runs short of Gympie’s 157.<\/p>\n

Ashley Sippell and Tom Carney each took three wickets, but the South Burnett batsmen struggled and were bowled out in the 39th over.<\/p>\n

The final, to be played on Sunday February 14 at Lyle Vidler Oval, will be a re-match between the two sides, this time played on the South Burnett’s home turf.<\/p>\n

Warriors secured an outright win on Day 2 of their A Grade cricket match against Wondai in Kingaroy on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Resuming at 8\/99, the Wolves were were chasing the Warriors’ first innings total of 140 but were bowled out just two runs shy of the target, giving the home team first innings points.<\/p>\n

Opener Andrew Askin starred in the Warriors’ second dig, scoring 65 of the team’s eventual 148 runs.<\/p>\n

Rain interrupted play at times, forcing the cricketers on and off the field.<\/p>\n

In reply, Wondai was tested by some good fielding from the Warriors, especially Mitchell Crossley who took three catches.<\/p>\n

The Wolves were bowled out short of the target, giving Warriors 10 points for the game.<\/p>\n

The second two-day A Grade game, between Murgon and Nanango, also\u00a0 resulted in an outright win.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Crusaders resumed at 3\/174 having already overtaken Nanango’s first innings total of 118.<\/p>\n

Murgon put on another 122 runs before sending in the Scorpions to bat.<\/p>\n

Jeff Rose (58)\u00a0 followed on from Jason Webber’s 68 from last Saturday to help build the Crusaders’ tally.<\/p>\n

Chasing Murgon’s lead of 178, Nanango fell six runs short meaning the Murgon batsmen were given a second innings holiday and the Crusaders took 10 points from the game.<\/p>\n

Mitch Olzard was the topscorer for Nanango with 51.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Rain affected the B Grade match between Warriors and Wondai, reducing the game to 36 overs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wondai won the toss and elected to bat, finishing with a total of 7\/174.<\/p>\n

Top scorers were E. O’Rourke (75), C. Handford (57) and C. Bodey (13).<\/p>\n

In reply, Warriors fell short at 7\/156.<\/p>\n

Veteran Paul Clegg top-scored with 56.<\/p>\n

Wondai won by 20 runs.<\/p>\n

In the B Grade game between Nanango and Kumbia, the Scorpions won the toss and batted first, ending all out 132.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Top scorers were S. Scott (31) and C. Shute (25).<\/p>\n

J. Milsom took 2\/15 off six overs.<\/p>\n

The Rattlers overtook the target in the 15th over for the loss of just two wickets.<\/p>\n

C. Crawford (65 not out) and J. Milsom (37 not out) did the damage.<\/p>\n
