Memerambi’s controversial housing estate … an error by the company awarded a tender last month to fix the Estate’s problems means the Council now has to select another bidder<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Work to build missing infrastructure on Memerambi Estate which was planned to begin this month may be delayed because of an error by one of the tender bidders.<\/p>\n

The South Burnett Regional Council will vote on Wednesday to rescind a tender it awarded to a Brisbane contracting firm after the company advised the Council it had made a mistake in its calculations.<\/p>\n

The tender was awarded to Browns Contractors at the Council’s December 9 meeting.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The company had bid $1,456,301 plus GST to begin work on building missing roads and drainage infrastructure on the Estate.<\/p>\n

But after the contract was awarded, the company advised it had made a mistake.<\/p>\n

The company then resubmitted its tender with the error corrected.<\/p>\n

However, when this revised tender was examined by Council officers, it was found the company was no longer offering the cheapest price.<\/p>\n

This week’s Council meeting – the first since the tender was awarded – will now vote to rescind the original motion, then consider awarding the tender to another of the bidders.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Council officers are hopeful this will not cause any significant delay to the project, which the Council still plans to be completed by mid-year.<\/p>\n

The work aims to finish infrastructure on the Estate left incomplete after developer Summit View Meritor Pty Ltd was placed into liquidation in August 2013.<\/p>\n
