Today is World\u00a0Mental Health Day<\/strong> … and usually that would mean a focus on people with a mental illness.<\/p>\n

But there’s another side to mental illness and that’s the toll that it can take on the frontline staff working with clients.<\/p>\n

So to mark Mental Health Day today, a lunch was held in Kingaroy for the people who work in the field and are often stretched almost to breaking point.<\/p>\n

It was to “celebrate successes, share stories, resources and have an opportunity to network”.<\/p>\n

It was organised by the same team that put on the recent RU OK? Day, ie Centacare South Burnett, Stanwell, Medicare Local and the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

Care providers and representatives from the sponsoring organisation gathered in St Mary’s Hall for a lunch prepared by the Kingaroy Community Kitchen.<\/p>\n

The kitchen is group of like-minded individuals who come together on a regular basis to socialise and cook affordable and nutritious meals.<\/p>\n

It is part of the Healthy Communities initiative organised by RHealth in conjunction with the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n
