December 21, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hivesville’s Christmas Carnival, held at Anzac Park opposite the Hivesville Hotel, broke with recent tradition on Friday night.<\/p>\n

Santa arrived around dusk in an electric green T-bucket Ford with a few more horses under than the bonnet than his usual conveyance, a horse-drawn wagon.<\/p>\n

The change in transport arrangements was caused by a recent fire at wagon master Spike Butler’s property which damaged some of his bridles.<\/p>\n

Unwilling to disappoint the children, Spike offered to chauffeur Santa to the event in his hotrod instead, and the jolly gentleman quickly agreed.<\/p>\n

The rest of the Carnival went ahead without a hitch.<\/p>\n

Guests could enjoy an assortment of foods prepared by the Hivesville QCWA and helpers from the Hivesville Progress Association who manned the barbecues; and enjoy carol singing by members of the Kingaroy Seventh-day Adventist choir.<\/p>\n

There was also a Christmas raffle and Santa also brought along gifts for the children.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, many guests adjourned across the road to finish the evening off at the hotel.<\/p>\n
