The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is seeking feedback from local landholders about three proposed locations for the new cattle tick line.<\/p>\n

As previously announced, the new line will eliminate the current “control zone” between ticky and tick-free country.<\/p>\n

The first proposal follows the old “tick-free” boundary, the second follows the old “ticky” boundary, while the third option proposes a completely new boundary through the South Burnett.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This third line would follow major roads, tracking through the South Burnett via Mundubbera-Durong Road, Chinchilla-Wondai Road and the Bunya Highway to Crawford.<\/p>\n

It then follows the Crawford back route of Siefert Street and West Street to Kingaroy (Haly, Kingaroy and Knight streets and Walter Road) before rejoining the D’Aguilar Highway to Nanango (Drayton, Henry and King streets, and Nanango Tarong Road) and on to Yarraman until the New England Highway turn-off.<\/p>\n

It then follows the New England Highway to Carbarlah.<\/p>\n

Under this route, Tingoora, Wondai, Mondure, Hivesville and Proston would all be ticky.<\/p>\n

A Department spokesman said feedback was especially sought from property owners living along the current tick line.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This feedback would\u00a0 help determine the most sustainable and “defendable” location for the tick line.<\/p>\n

Public consultation will be open until January 31.<\/p>\n

To have a say on the tick line options, visit the State Government’s public consultation website<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

The new framework for managing cattle ticks will begin on July 1, 2016.<\/p>\n
