UnitingCare is hoping Christmas shoppers in Kingaroy will again help them spread festive cheer to local families who are doing it tough – and this year there’s two stores where gifts can be bought and dropped into the special bins.<\/p>\n

The stores are Betta Electrical, in Alford Street; and Wayne’s World, in Haly Street.<\/p>\n

For the past five years, Uniting Care has partnered with Target Country in Kingaroy for the annual appeal, but sadly the Target store closed earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Local UnitingCare co-ordinator Susan Mortimer said she was “touched” when Target’s former employees expressed their concerns to her about the future of the Christmas campaign.<\/p>\n

“It touched my heart that they were thinking about us when they had just lost their jobs,” she said.<\/p>\n

Fortunately, local stores Betta Electrical and Wayne’s World volunteered to fill the gap.<\/p>\n

Donation boxes have been placed by UnitingCare at both locations.<\/p>\n

Shoppers are invited to purchase items at the stores – including gift cards at Betta Electrical – and place them in the boxes.<\/p>\n

All items donated will be distributed to local families.<\/p>\n
