A special rugby league talent identification camp held in Kingaroy at the weekend attracted keen young footballers from all over southern and central Queensland.<\/p>\n

The teenagers were trying out for places in the Central United Crows squads for the Mal Meninga Cup (U18s) and Cyril Connell Cup (U16s).<\/p>\n

Two other camps were also be held in the Division catchment area at Roma\u00a0and Bundaberg.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Rugby League secretary Lisa Weir said she was happy with the roll-up in Kingaroy with 27 players trying out for the U16s and 22 for the U18s.<\/p>\n

She said the final squads would be announced this week.<\/p>\n

The selected players would then go into camp at the Sunshine Coast in January.<\/p>\n

They would play trial matches against North Devils at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy in February.<\/p>\n

The Cyril Connell and Mal Meninga cups are designed to provide a development pathway for young rugby league players.<\/p>\n
