of each of the sixteen teams is drawn by a raffle.<\/p>\n<p>Bids are then taken for the Calcutta prize moneys, and bidding for the team favourites is quite competitive.<\/p>\n<p>Prizes for the first three teams are awarded at a closing ceremony on Sunday afternoon, and the results of this year&#8217;s competition will be highlighted in next week&#8217;s column<\/p>\n<p><strong>On Yarraman&#8217;s Blackboard:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wed, Dec 9: Ladies Bowls &#8211; well, almost.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Neilsen, Norma Rook, Bronwyn Grant and Di Reed played John Lacey, Glady Slatter, Val Crawford and Beryl Woods.<\/p>\n<p>And Linda Clutterbuck, Paul Marychurch and Val Jeppersen played Darcy Munro, Richard Patterson and Sharon Yeates.<\/p>\n<p>However it turned out to be not the best of days to play lawn bowls.<\/p>\n<p>A thunderstorm which erupted over the greens around 10:30am dumped a bucketload on everyone &#8211; enough to change the green&#8217;s rating from slow to underwater.<\/p>\n<p>The games were abandoned.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday&#8217;s club selected triples had better luck, though, with 20 bowlers hitting the greens for two games of Triples and two games of Pairs.<\/p>\n<p>Scoring was four points for a win and one point for each end won<\/p>\n<p>Results in winning order:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bevan Askew, B.
