Nanango’s annual town festival may have been known by a few names over time – Mardi Gras, Pioneer Festival or FunFest – but it’s been running continuously for 43 years.<\/p>\n

And it’s on again next weekend!<\/p>\n

The 2012 Heritage Mardi Gras<\/strong>\u00a0will be held all day next Saturday in the Nanango CBD and at Pioneer Park.<\/p>\n

A wine and cheese night was held at Ringsfield House on Friday to officially launch the festival and to announce the \u00a0Nanango Mardi Gras Ambassador for 2012 and the Mardi Gras Queen.<\/p>\n

They are Danielle Turmaine and Sue Wallis.<\/p>\n

“Danielle is a volunteer with the festival and is a very hard worker,” Funfest Committee president Cr Barry Green said.<\/p>\n

“Sue is one of the major organisers.”<\/p>\n

The committee decided to sash an “ambassador” instead of a princess, and Cr Green said he believed they would also do this in future as it encouraged people of all ages to take part.<\/p>\n
