The South Burnett Regional Council today made good on a promise in its 2015-16 Budget to create eight new traineeships.<\/p>\n

The Council will employ the trainees under the Queensland Government\u2019s “Skilling Queenslanders For Work” employment initiative, which will pay $13,750 towards the cost of employing each trainee.<\/p>\n

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the program would give eight local residents a start in their careers.<\/p>\n

“As one of the largest employers in the South Burnett, we want to lead the way in developing our youth so that they are trained for our jobs in the future.<\/p>\n

“Opportunities for apprentices and trainees are key to skilling the South Burnett workforce, and Council has a diverse range of employment opportunities to offer.”<\/p>\n

The Council’s program is aimed at school leavers and the unemployed, particularly within the following groups:<\/p>\n
