Council worker Trevor Otto<\/strong> has clocked up an amazing 50 years and two months service in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

He’s the longest-serving council employee and one of many workers with more than 20 years’ service who were recognised at a function held for staff and their families at the Kingaroy Town Hall last night.<\/p>\n

“Staff are said to be an organisation’s greatest asset,” South Burnett Regional Council CEO Mr Ken McLoughlin said.<\/p>\n

“Well, I believe that this is only partly true. In reality the right staff are the organisation’s best asset. Simply by longevity it can be assumed that those with 20 years or more are the right staff.<\/p>\n

“Often little is done to recognise the contribution of staff that have been with an organisation for very long periods of time. We decided to do something about this and it was a pleasure to be able to address the first official awards night where staff with greater than 20 year’s service to our organisation were recognised.<\/p>\n

“It started when Greg Lewis from Human Resources and I were talking about doing something to raise the profile of those who have been in our employment for a long period of time. After some discussion we decided to hold an event which provided the opportunity to present staff with medallions and certificates of appreciation.”<\/p>\n

There were 25 employees in the 20-29 year category, 19 in the 30-39 year category, two in the 40-49 year category … and Trevor, with more than 50 years service.<\/p>\n

Mr McLoughlin congratulated all recipients of awards and said they thoroughly earned every accolade that could be bestowed on them.<\/p>\n

He also thanked the organising committee, other contributors, and Val Hooper for being Master of Ceremonies on the night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
