Kingaroy State High School was struck by two bouts of senseless vandalism at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Several windows were smashed in school buildings on Friday night, followed by another spree of destruction on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, from Kingaroy Police, said youths entered a number of buildings at the school sometime before 1:30pm on Sunday.<\/p>\n

They spray-painted graffiti on several buildings, damaged a door and doorframe to enter a toilet block, and damaged fittings in a staff toilet.<\/p>\n

They also activated a fire hydrant, spraying water around.<\/p>\n

Two garbage bins and two tables were thrown from the second floor of a building, and a ceiling fan was damaged by swinging on it.<\/p>\n

“There were some teachers at the school working who observed the youths who then decamped on foot,” Snr Sgt Frank said.<\/p>\n

“This vandalism is just pointless, disgraceful behaviour.”<\/p>\n

School principal Ashley Roediger was also left shaking his head.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He estimated vandalism had cost Kingaroy State High School $50,000 over the past 12 months in repairs and labour.<\/p>\n

“We could hire another teacher aide for a year with that money,” he said.<\/p>\n
