The South Burnett Regional Council advised today that Gordonbrook Dam has been temporarily closed again due to high levels of blue-green algae.<\/p>\n

The closure took effect on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

A Council spokesman said there are many different types of blue-green algae and Gordonbrook Dam sometimes experiences very high levels of the different types.<\/p>\n

These levels vary throughout the year and it is necessary to close the dam (water area) for public access and recreation when testing of algae indicates high levels.<\/p>\n

But residents should not be concerned about the quality of their drinking water, the SBRC says, because the Council\u2019s treatment processes filters the water before it reaches consumers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
