Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott is encouraging South Burnett community organisations to apply for a grant from the Federal Government’s $20 million Volunteer Grants program.<\/p>\n

The program provides grants of between $1000 and $5000 to non-profit community groups to purchase equipment or offset costs to help make the work of their volunteers easier and safer.<\/p>\n

“Community organisation can use these grants to help with costs incurred by volunteers – like the cost of fuel to take seniors to see a doctor, first aid training, background security checks or transport for volunteers with a disability who cannot drive,” Mr Scott said.<\/p>\n

“Organisations can also purchase much-needed equipment, such as computers or printers so they can keep pace with technology.”<\/p>\n

Mr Scott said the Government recognised that volunteers are the backbone of Australian communities.<\/p>\n

“This year\u2019s Volunteer Grants will give priority to organisations working with individuals or communities experiencing disadvantage, including communities affected by natural disasters. So I encourage organisations in these areas to apply.”<\/p>\n

Applications for Volunteer Grants close on December 9 this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n
