It may just be a fence, but it is the start of something great at Scott Haven Independent Living Complex in Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, December 5, the Blackbutt & Benarkin Aged Care Association will launch its 2016 fundraising initiative, “Connecting Heart to Hart”, at the unveiling of a brand new Scott Haven sign and a new white picket fence at\u00a047 Hart Street, Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

As part of the day there will be an official presentation of funds raised at a Charity Golf Day by the Blackbutt Police and\u00a0a Christmas Party for residents and friends of the Scott Haven Independent Living Complex.<\/p>\n

The fundraising drive aims to deliver a landscaping and pathways project that will connect the current and future units planned for the Scott Haven Independent Living unit complex to the township of Blackbutt.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited by this project. Not only is it our first major fundraising project but we are inviting our community to be creative and actively connect to the project,\u201d BBAC chairman Jeff Connor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough art workshops co-ordinated by local artists, people will be able to create artwork that will be transferred onto a ceramic tile. This tile will be included in the final landscape and pathways.<\/p>\n

“Not only is the donor about to contribute through a buying a tile, but their creativity will be there for perpetuity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to create a happy community space at the Hart Street Complex for both residents and visitors.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us however, it is also very important to increase awareness of the much-needed infrastructure we and other community organisations need to provide for the current and future seniors in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the last twenty years the South Burnett Region has experienced an influx of people in the baby boom generation because of the ‘tree-change’ phenomenon.<\/p>\n

“Some of these people are already entering the over-65 age group.<\/p>\n

“There are also a significant number of older residents retiring from farms in the South Burnett region.<\/p>\n

\u201cBBAC would like to acknowledge the partnership with Stanwell Corporation for naming rights for the project of $10,000 with our other partners including the Queensland Government through the Community Gambling Benefit Fund and the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

“Without Stanwell\u2019s support we wouldn\u2019t have been able to get this great project off the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fundraising goal for the project is $15,000 and it is hoped this will be achieved by the Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Festival in September 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
