A misunderstanding between artists involved in the Dual Arts Project and South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann seems to have been resolved.<\/p>\n

The project, which attempted to resolve the question of whether photography was art by having artist Lee Porter and photographer Sherrianne Talon independently paint and photograph a dozen South Burnett scenes, was funded by an RADF grant.<\/p>\n

At today’s Council meeting, Councillors were told that when the Dual Arts exhibition was launched in July this year, Mayor Wayne Kratzmann had told the artists he would not be acquiring any artworks.<\/p>\n

The three artists involved in the project – Lee Porter, Sherriane Talon and Sandy Hoffmann – took this to mean the agreement they’d signed with the RADF committee to provide a selection of the finished artworks and photographs for Council to use in promoting the region had been waived.<\/p>\n

Because of this, some of the finished works the RADF committee selected were later sold.<\/p>\n

At its September meeting, the Council’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee recommended the original conditions of the funding agreement stand.<\/strong><\/p>\n

They also recommended that if the originally selected works could not be supplied, the artists refund any sales proceeds so the money could be used on other RADF projects.<\/p>\n

But at Wednesday’s meeting, Councillors accepted a recommendation from officers they accept an offer to provide alternative artworks from the exhibition to the value of $1400 to replace one artwork the RADF committee had selected which was later sold – a picture of Tarong Power Station.<\/p>\n

They also resolved to accept photographs of Coomba Falls, Boondooma, the Bunya Mountains, Wooroolin Wetlands, Proston landmarks and one other to replace a photograph of a vineyard at Dusty Hill which had also been sold.<\/p>\n

The amendment was passed.<\/p>\n
