{"id":127278,"date":"2015-11-17T21:46:40","date_gmt":"2015-11-17T11:46:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/?p=127278"},"modified":"2020-11-06T10:14:02","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T00:14:02","slug":"rain-hits-and-misses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southburnett.com.au\/news2\/2015\/11\/17\/rain-hits-and-misses\/","title":{"rendered":"Rain Hits And Misses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>November 17, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s rain affected some but not all of the weekend&#8217;s cricket games played in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">* * *<\/h2>\n<p><strong>In the A Grade game between Nanango and Warriors, the Scorpions were 3\/122 off 18 overs when the storms came.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brendan Weil had hit an impressive 71 while Dean Olzard was 29 not out.<\/p>\n<p>Warriors&#8217; bowlers Taylor Herrmann, Mitchell Crossley and Jimmy Dundas\u00a0 each took one wicket.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>At Murgon, the A Grade game between Kingaroy RSL Services and Murgon Crusaders went ahead smoothly.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy RSL won the toss and decided to bat.\u00a0 The visitors were all out for 218 off 43 overs.<\/p>\n<p>Top scorers were Nathan Bain (62), Matthew Dugdell (49 not out) and Brady Roberts (43).<\/p>\n<p>Chris Osborne starred with the ball for Murgon, taking six wickets off his nine overs for just 55 runs.<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Murgon fell short off their 45 overs, finishing with 9\/117.<\/p>\n<p>Top scorers were Troy Dennien (21) and James McUtchen (17 not out).<\/p>\n<p>Best of the Kingaroy bowlers were\u00a0 Wayne Kelly (3\/34 off nine overs), Caylan Brown (2\/6 off six overs) and Peter Hourn (1\/13 off seven overs).<\/p>\n<p>Kingaroy RSL Services won by 101 runs<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Rain and the enigmatic Duckworth-Lewis system determined the outcome of the B Grade match between the Kumbia Rattlers and Nanango.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kumbia won the toss and proceeded to get stuck into the bowling, setting a formidable target of 319 off 40 overs for the loss of just four wickets.<\/p>\n<p>Warren Cross retired hurt after locking in his century (104) while Chris Medcalf (90) and Corey Cross (67 not out) also enjoyed being at the crease.<\/p>\n<p>Lachlan Jones was best of the Scorpions bowlers, taking 2\/38 off six overs.<\/p>\n<p>Nanango was 4\/110 off 27 overs when the rain came.<\/p>\n<p>Dean Cullen was 48 not out and Lachlan Jones had made a handy 26.<\/p>\n<p>Best of the Kumbia bowlers was Ryan Kelly: 2\/33 off eight overs.<\/p>\n<p>Kumbia won by 83 runs according to Duckworth-Lewis.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>The other two B Grade games escaped Saturday&#8217;s storms and allowed many of the South Burnett&#8217;s best junior cricketers to have a run.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wondai defeated Warriors by 83 runs after batting first.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolves finished 4\/172 off their 40 overs. Top scorers were Chris Bodey (65) and Craig Handford (30).<\/p>\n<p>Marcus Riddell was 29 not out.<\/p>\n<p>Best of the Warriors&#8217; bowlers were Dane Bloomfield (1\/22 off eight overs), Tyler Heness (1\/24 off seven), Justin Bunker (1\/25 off eight) and Jaden Heness (1\/20 off 3).<\/p>\n<p>In reply, Warriors were all out for 89 with Kendall Siddans (17), Steve Heness (16) and Dane Bloomfield (11).<\/p>\n<p>Best of the Wondai bowlers were Mark Riddell (3\/8 off four) and Dan Braxton (3\/15 off five).<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Cherbourg met Murgon Diggers on the Stables field at Murgon.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Diggers were bowled out for 174 in 39 overs.<\/p>\n<p>Craig Klibbe (78), Alex Newton (22) and Renee Irvine (21) helped set the target.<\/p>\n<p>Best of the Cherbourg bowlers were Keith Walsh Snr (3\/41) and Barry Fisher (2\/13).<\/p>\n<p>On reply, Cherbourg passed the Murgon total in 32 overs, finishing 6\/183.<\/p>\n<p>David Warner (35), Nev Kratzmann (33), Barry Fisher (28 not out) and Gene Barrett (25 not out) did the damage.<\/p>\n<p>Best of the Murgon bowlers were Al Woodall (2\/28), Alex Newton (1\/29) and Craig Klibbe (1\/30)<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>All South Burnett cricketers will wear a black armband during games this weekend in memory of Lynda Geiger, wife of Kingaroy RSL Services&#8217; Darren Geiger, who succumbed to cancer on Monday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday&#8217;s rain affected some but not all of the weekend&#8217;s cricket games played in the South Burnett.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":278776,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[27,3,6],"tags":[1133],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.11 -
