Much-loved Kingaroy mother Lynda Geiger, who refused to stop enjoying life despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, succumbed to the disease on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Lynda, 46, died at home, surrounded by her family.<\/p>\n

She was confined to a wheelchair due to tumours pressing on her spine but she still managed to attend many local events, including cricket and rugby league matches, and visits to the markets.<\/p>\n

Over the past 16 months, Lynda also generously allowed herself to become a focal point for raising cancer awareness in the South Burnett community.<\/p>\n

In September, Lynda’s friends and family gathered at the Town Common Hall to \u201cCelebrate Lynda\u201d and launch the \u201cLynda Geiger Young Mums Program\u201d, a melanoma-awareness program.<\/p>\n

At the time, Melanoma Awareness Foundation CEO Brett Otto described her as “the most courageous and inspirational woman that I know\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a spontaneous show of respect for Lynda, pink and yellow balloons – Lynda’s favourite colours – started appearing outside shops, on traffic lights and signposts in the Kingaroy CBD on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Lynda is survived by her husband Darren and sons Adam, Joe and Chris; and mother Gabrielle Burke.<\/p>\n

A Funeral Service for Lynda Geiger will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall on Monday, November 23, at 1:30pm to be followed by interment at the Taabinga Lawn Cemetery.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Council Queensland and Melanoma Awareness Foundation may be considered with envelopes provided at the service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
