The 2016 Boondooma Yellowbelly could turn out to be the best yet in the popular fishing competition’s 28 year history.<\/p>\n

Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition spokesman Terry Allwood said today that with the lake fishing extremely well, next year’s event could set new records in both the long-standing gilled and gutted section, as well as the newer catch and release component.<\/p>\n

The annual competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14, with a pre-competition briefing on Friday night.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cash and other prizes will be presented at the end of each of the competition’s three sessions, and overall winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event.<\/p>\n

Lucky draws will also be held at the end of each fishing session and at the Friday night briefing.<\/p>\n

All presentations and lucky draws will be conducted at the Fish Stocking Association’s clubhouse, which overlooks Lake Boondooma.<\/p>\n

Entry fees for the 2016 competition will be $20 for adults, and $5 for juniors aged 16 years and under, the same as last year.<\/p>\n

Food and drinks stalls will be provided by local community groups over the weekend, and Lake Boondooma’s camping facilities will be available for campers.<\/p>\n

All profits from the event are used to help the Fish Stocking Association stock the dam.<\/p>\n

To date, Association members have put approximately 4.5 million fingerlings into Lake Boondooma.<\/p>\n
