Anglers flock to Boondooma Dam for the annual yellowbelly competition<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Organisers of the 2013 Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly fishing competition are tipping a bumper weekend with fishing conditions looking set to be at their best.<\/p>\n

The annual competition is still a fair way off, but spokesman John Burow says fishing conditions at Lake Boondooma will be at their best. The water quality is excellent and significant weed beds have now returned after the 2011 floods.<\/p>\n

The competition will be held on February 9-10 next year.<\/p>\n

Entry costs will remain at $20 for adults and $5 for juniors aged 16 years and under. Competition entry fees do not include the cost of camping at the lake.<\/p>\n

Registrations will be accepted for the fishing competition from 12:30pm on Friday, February 8, at the Stocking Association Clubhouse at the dam.<\/p>\n

Mr Burow said the fishing and family fun weekend was a major fundraiser that supported the ongoing stocking of Lake Boondooma.<\/p>\n

The 2012 competition attracted 641 competitors including 132 juniors enjoying a great weekend of camping, fishing and family activities.<\/p>\n

Accommodation available at the lake includes five self-contained cabins, a communal bunkhouse, powered sites, non-powered lakeside camping areas and modern amenities blocks.<\/p>\n

Information on camping fees is available on the South Burnett Regional Council website<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

All anglers must have a current Stock Impoundment Permit.<\/p>\n
