The closing date for public submissions and feedback to the Stolen Wages Reparations Taskforce has been extended to Friday, November 20.<\/p>\n

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Minister Curtis Pitt said the deadline for submissions had been extended to hold more community meetings and allow more people to contribute to this important process.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe taskforce will still have to report back to the State Government within the same timeframe but we want to ensure communities, individuals, families and stakeholders all have adequate opportunity to make sure the Taskforce hears their suggestions for eligibility assessment,\u201d Mr Pitt said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s critical that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders affected by past governments\u2019 control of their wages and savings have the time and opportunity to have their say on how the Reparations Fund will work.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe taskforce is specifically looking at feedback and ideas from those impacted as to how to create an eligibility assessment criteria to accurately allocate the $21 million fund to people whose wages and savings were controlled by past Queensland Governments under the Protection Acts.\u201d<\/p>\n
