Some of the junior athletes heading off to compete this weekend at the Sunshine Coast Regional Relays<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A group of junior athletes from across the South Burnett have been practising hard ahead of a regional competition being held this weekend at Wamuran.<\/p>\n

The 29 children from the South Burnett Little Athletics Club are heading off to the Sunshine Coast Regional Relays competition.<\/p>\n

They will compete in age groups ranging from Under 7 to Under 14.<\/p>\n

Instructor Kellie Pogany said the U7s and U8s would be competing in a “shuttle relay”.<\/p>\n

The U9s and U10s are in 4 x 200m and 4 x 100m events.<\/p>\n

The older children (U11s and above) will be taking part in 4 X 100m and medley events (200m, 400m and 800m).<\/p>\n

Some will also be taking part in field events, chosen from high jump, long jump, discus and shotput.<\/p>\n

The top three competitors in every age group from U9s and above have the opportunity to qualify to take part in the State titles.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
