The Blackbutt Show Society announced today its 2016 Pavilion Schedule has been finalised and is now available on the Show Society’s website<\/b><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hardcopy versions are also being printed, and will be available in the usual Blackbutt shops and at the Showground office shortly.<\/p>\n

“The schedule has been finalised early to allow potential exhibitors plenty of time to prepare their entries, grow those veggies, sew that special garment, test recipes or take lots of photos to choose one that really shows their skills,” Pavilion Chief Steward Bev Brown said.<\/p>\n

The early release of the schedule is just one of several exciting changes planned for 2016 Show, which will be held on Saturday May 14.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Show Society’s new computerised entry system – which was trialled at this year’s Show – means exhibitors can submit their entry form and their exhibit at the same time and save an extra trip to the Showgrounds.<\/p>\n

“We are hoping that lots more out-of-towners and residents in neighbouring towns will take the opportunity to challenge the locals for the new prizes,” Bev said.<\/p>\n

Next year, each section will have a “Feature Class” offering prizes of $50, $20 and $10.<\/p>\n

And the prizes for the Culinary Feature Class – which is a carrot cake baked in a ring tin – are $150, $75 and $25.<\/p>\n

“Feature Classes are ordinary classes which are being featured in 2016 in the hope that lots more people will enter in pursuit of the prizes. Entry in all classes, including the Features, is just $1,” Bev said.<\/p>\n

“There are new challenges too, like the Local History Challenge which seeks displays to illustrate an historical aspect of the area. There’ll also be a Lego challenge and Fancy Dress competition for the kids.”<\/p>\n

A thrilling evening programme for the whole family is also being planned for 2016.<\/p>\n

Exhibits and prize money can be collected on Show Day, and also on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
