Friday was a busy night over the cauldron for the Yarraman Historical Society’s kitchen witches Sophia Taylor, Martha Adaneik and Val Page<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

October 30, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Halloween looming on the calendar and the moon just past full, the Yarraman Historical Society decided to turn their monthly dinner on Friday into a Halloween Party.<\/p>\n

But the promise of a strangely spooky night out on the town turned out to be more of a treat than a trick.<\/p>\n

There were no vacant seats, and the Historical Society’s volunteers worked overtime to decorate Heritage House’s dining hall for the occasion.<\/p>\n

While the “kitchen witches” kept themselves busy brewing up dreamy food, guests got to relax to an upbeat mix of country and Irish music provided by Tom Bennett and Leon Wyvill, who kept toes tapping.<\/p>\n

Many guests came in fancy dress for the occasion, while others amused themselves with pumpkins and other Halloween paraphernalia.<\/p>\n

Naturally, quite a few checked under the tablecloths, behind their seats and around doors to make certain there were no hobgoblins lurking about.<\/p>\n

But at the end of the night a head-count showed no one had been taken in the interval between mains and dessert.<\/p>\n

Many guests lingered afterwards until Tom and Leon played “The Pub With No Beer” to signal it was time to go home.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, none fell victim to zombies as they wended their way back …<\/p>\n

Guitarist Tom Bennett came down from Nanango and teamed up with local fiddler Leon Wyvill to provide the entertainment … but was Leon’s ghostly double bow due to a bit of Halloween magic or just a low camera shutter speed? We may never really know …<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
