Grant recipients from Round 5 of the Mayor’s Community Benefit fund and representatives from groups who received Community Assistance Grants at Tuesday’s presentation in Kingaroy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

South Burnett community organisations were presented with an extra $36,455 in funding this week.<\/p>\n

$15,000 came from the latest round of the Mayor\u2019s Community Benefit Fund, and the balance came from the Council’s Community Assistance Grants.<\/p>\n

Representatives of successful applicants for Round 5 of the Mayor\u2019s Community Benefit Fund were invited to a Community Assistance Presentation Morning Tea at the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

They were joined by representatives from several other groups who had been unable to attend the Council’s annual Community Assistance Grants presentation night on Wednesday, September 16.<\/p>\n

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann presented 11 local organisations with cheques towards their projects, all of which support the community in different ways.<\/p>\n

He noted that since he’d set up the Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund soon after gaining office, the Fund had collected and given away more than $85,000 to South Burnett community groups.<\/p>\n

It was now distributing between $45,000 and $50,000 a year – a 10 per cent “top-up” over and above the $465,000 in community assistance the Council already provides to local not-for-profit groups and community associations.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the presentations, the Mayor announced that a special extra round of the Mayor\u2019s Community Benefit Fund is now open for organisations who actively provide support for the community in need at Christmas.<\/p>\n

The extra round has been made possible by the success of this year’s Mayor’s Charity Ball.<\/p>\n
