Cherbourg elder Uncle Rory Boney was given the honour of officially launching Radio Us Mob’s new digital broadcasting studio last week.<\/p>\n

4UM Station Manager Jeanette Brown said Studio A at the station had been completely refurbished.<\/p>\n

A digital desk has been installed, believed to be the first in the South Burnett, and announcers now have a view following the installation of a large window overlooking the rear deck and yard.<\/p>\n

“The studio can now also cater for additional guests as well as co-hosts,” Jeanette said.<\/p>\n

One wall sports a large printed mural of some of Cherbourg’s musical greats from the past – Richard “Diamond” Ross, Mick Conlon, Jeffrey Doolah, Godfrey Brown, Angus Rabbitt Snr, Winifred Douglas and Isabelle Rabbitt – pictured on 4SB’s concert stage in Kingaroy during the 1960s.<\/p>\n

Us Mob switched over to the new digital desk after the noon news last Tuesday (October 20).<\/p>\n

Station employee Michael Monk has been training staff how to use all the new technology.<\/p>\n

“The new digital desk will give our trainee broadcasters the opportunity of learning on the latest equipment,” Jeanette said.<\/p>\n

The studio was upgraded after a successful application to the Community Broadcasting Foundation.<\/p>\n

4UM has some more big plans in the pipeline, including the development of a youth station manned by trainees, broadcasting on a narrowcast licence servicing the town area only.<\/p>\n
