Young people in Yarraman and Cooyar interested in seeking a position on Toowoomba Regional Council\u2019s Youth Leaders\u2019 program have until Wednesday (October 28) to lodge nominations.<\/p>\n

TRC Environment and Community Committee chairman Cr Geoff McDonald said successful applicants would work with Council\u2019s Community Development branch to plan and deliver youth projects and generally raise the profile and concerns of the region\u2019s young people.<\/p>\n

Cr McDonald said the program was open to residents aged between 14 and 25 who were willing to represent their town or community in the coming year.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung people who are selected will be required to attend training weekends (December 12-13 and February 6-7) as well as commit to monthly meetings,\u201d Cr McDonald said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a fantastic chance for young people across the region to have a say in the issues that affect and concern them and their peers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdeas raised can be referred to the Regional Youth Advisory Committee for further consideration.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeetings will be held across the region. Apart from the chance to join activities and projects, the program is a wonderful chance to gain new skills, meet new people across different fields and learn about how local government operates.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are a lot of talented young people in the region and we are keen to offer our bright minds the chance to have a say in their own future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Youth Leaders will be required to attend some of the region\u2019s major events, festivals and Youth Connect activities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Interested people are required to complete an application form, submit a resume and provide details of one reference and a referee.<\/p>\n
