The South Burnett Regional Council has reminded residents connected to the Kingaroy water supply to conserve water for the next four days.<\/p>\n

The water saving measures are necessary while important upgrades are being completed at the Gordonbrook Water Treatment Plant.<\/p>\n

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann today congratulated residents and businesses on their efforts to conserve water since this stage in the project began on October 19, but said it was critical the measures continued a few more days yet.<\/p>\n

“The capacity of the existing plant needs to be halved until October 26 while the first stage of the new plant is connected,” Mayor Kratzmann said.<\/p>\n

“The upgrade will give Kingaroy and surrounding areas improved water quality and reliability for many years to come, but we need residents to limit any non-essential water use at this time.”<\/p>\n

Council staff are monitoring the plant and usage around the clock and the town is in no danger of running out of water.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann reminded residents the South Burnett is already on Level 2 restrictions throughout the region, but residents receiving the Kingaroy Town Water Supply needed to be extra water-wise during this short period.<\/p>\n

Simple water saving measures include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Turning off the tap when you clean your teeth or shave<\/li>\n
  • Taking shorter showers<\/li>\n
  • Watering gardens by hand rather than by hose<\/li>\n
  • Fixing dripping taps<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
