The Queensland fire danger ratings for Thursday and Friday this week<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Rural firefighters are urging Queensland residents from Cape York to the Granite Belt to prepare and be vigilant with heightened fire conditions predicted for Thursday and Friday.<\/p>\n

RFSQ Assistant Commissioner Tom Dawson said fire crews were prepared for the conditions and urged residents to do the same.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith very high fire danger in Queensland\u2019s Far North, North West, Central Highlands, Wide Bay-Burnett, Darling Downs, Maranoa and the Granite Belt districts, we\u2019re asking residents to take extra care, be alert and help to prevent bushfires,\u201d Mr Dawson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder these conditions, high temperatures combined with high wind speeds create an environment where fires may develop quickly, spread rapidly and become more intense.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAcross south-west Queensland there is also a concern of dry lightning starting fires.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Dawson said with fire activity increasing across the State it was crucial for residents to prepare their homes and properties.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they haven\u2019t already, I urge residents to finalise their preparations and visit the RFSQ website<\/b><\/a> to download a bushfire survival plan, so that no one is caught off guard,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is also important for residents to familiarise themselves with the different types of bushfire warnings and decide what actions they would take if needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cBushfire warnings are issued through media and social media channels to provide details to residents on what steps they need to take to survive the bushfire.\u201d<\/p>\n
