The South Burnett Community Orchestra’s String Ensemble played their second annual “Spring Strings” concert at Ringsfield on Saturday, and drew an even bigger audience than last year<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The South Burnett Community Orchestra’s second annual “Spring Strings” concert on Saturday wowed the audience.<\/p>\n

And this year, there was an even bigger audience to wow.<\/p>\n

The concert was held on Saturday afternoon at Ringsfield House in Nanango.<\/p>\n

About 80 people relaxed on the rear lawn to hear a performance by the SBCO\u2019s String Ensemble while they nibbled on snacks and enjoyed a few glasses of wine.<\/p>\n

Audience numbers appeared to be up by about a third on the first “Spring Strings” concert held last year.<\/p>\n

The event was a fundraiser to help the SBCO buy new sheet music.<\/p>\n

It costs the Orchestra up to $250 to obtain sheet music for any new piece, and the group’s wish list of jazz and full orchestral pieces never seems to diminish as their repertoire expands.<\/p>\n

The string ensemble used the complex\u2019s Coach House for a stage while guests sat under shade sails.<\/p>\n

The outdoor concert took advantage of the warm Spring weather, and Ringsfield’s gardens – now coming into bloom – provided a colourful backdrop.<\/p>\n

As was the case last year, the audience was treated to a mix of classical, jazz and modern pieces, all expertly performed with a mid-point intermission to allow them to refill their glasses or refuel their appetites.<\/p>\n

The Orchestra’s next performance will be its annual end-of-year concert at Kumbia Hall on Saturday, November 28.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kumbia concert will start at 5:30pm and a barbecue dinner and dessert will be served at interval.<\/p>\n

Guests will need to book tickets and purchase meal vouchers before the night; the Orchestra will be releasing ticket prices and booking numbers in the near future.<\/p>\n
