Traffic along Nanango’s Fitzroy and Drayton Streets was temporarily disrupted on Monday to allow Council workmen to erect a new al fresco structure outside the Bendigo Bank building.<\/p>\n

Motorists travelling along the eastbound leg of Drayton Street between Fitzroy and Henry Streets, or the southbound leg of Fitzroy Street before the new roundabout, had to take a short detour to ensure worker safety.<\/p>\n

However through traffic heading west along Drayton Street and north along Fitzroy Street was not affected.<\/p>\n

The Council brought the shade structure components to the location on a truck, then used a crane to move them into position.<\/p>\n

Finishing touches will be applied over the coming week.<\/p>\n

Further down Drayton Street, other Council workmen continued working on the remaining portions of the project, including a major upgrade to the Drayton Street pedestrian crossing.<\/p>\n

Nanango’s CBD upgrade project is expected to be finished by the end of this month, after which it will be officially launched with a community street party in early November.<\/p>\n

The free event, organised by Cr Barry Green, is expected to feature a sausage sizzle and local entertainers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
