SES volunteers will benefit from a new sponsorship deal with Ergon Energy, Energex and Powerlink.<\/p>\n

The $200,000 funding agreement, which will provide new equipment for SES units throughout Queensland, was launched in Brisbane on Friday.<\/p>\n

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Commissioner for Emergency Services Volunteers Mike Wassing said it marked a special collaboration between the Queensland SES and the three energy corporations.<\/p>\n

\u201cQueensland\u2019s 5900 SES volunteers are everyday heroes who pride themselves on being there for the community when disaster strikes,\u201d Mr Wassing said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn many occasions our volunteers work side-by-side with operational personnel from Energex, Ergon and Powerlink to assist vulnerable members of the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat frontline teamwork and collaboration between the agencies during operational responses has inspired this special funding.”<\/p>\n

Ergon Chief Executive Ian McLeod said the company had a long and personal association with the SES.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cMany of our staff, who live and work in regional Queensland, are also SES volunteers and play a vital role during disaster response or other situations requiring SES assistance,\u201d Mr McLeod said.<\/p>\n
