#saferfamilies … it wouldn’t be a campaign these days without a hash tag, would it?\u00a0 But no one could argue against the spirit of the “Say No To Domestic Violence” rallies held throughout the South Burnett on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Events were held in Nanango, Kingaroy, Wondai, Murgon and Proston with guest speakers and the release of hundreds of white balloons to symbolise the victims of domestic violence who have lost their lives.<\/p>\n

The guest speaker in Kingaroy was Senior Sergeant Janelle Andrews, the Crime Prevention Co-ordinator for the South West Police District.<\/p>\n

She emphasised that the South Burnett has some serious issues with domestic violence.<\/p>\n

The many family support workers who attended the various events also testified to this.<\/p>\n

The “Safer Families, Better Communities” initiative is a statewide campaign<\/a><\/strong> promoted by the Local Government Association of Queensland.<\/p>\n
