The Cooyar Campdraft – part of the South Burnett & Cherbourg On Show long weekend – drew so many nominations that this year’s two-day event had to be extended just to fit everyone in.<\/p>\n

The campdraft had been scheduled to start early on Saturday morning and finish late on Sunday.<\/p>\n

But with 900 nominations and at least 500 horses packing out Cooyar’s campdraft grounds, the event kicked off half a day early on Friday afternoon instead.<\/p>\n

The Cooyar Showgrounds host two campdrafts every year: a one-day draft in March and the bigger two-day event in October.<\/p>\n

They’re popular fixtures on the State\u2019s campdrafting circuit.<\/p>\n

Both events attract keen competitors from all over south-east Queensland, along with many local campdrafters keen to test their skills against some of the State\u2019s best campdrafting talent.<\/p>\n

The Cooyar Show and Campdraft Society were delighted with the roll-up for the long weekend event.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The main difficulty they faced – and overcame, to everyone’s relief – was securing enough cattle to give all competitors a good run.<\/p>\n

A lot of entrants nominated for multiple drafts, and camped in the grounds to wait for their events to come up.<\/p>\n

Those who camped over enjoyed a campfire concert on Saturday night with popular local musician John Kohler.<\/p>\n
