Some people say the long, lazy lunch died in the 1990s. And that may be true. But only in the cities.<\/p>\n

In the South Burnett, the great Aussie tradition of a long, lazy lunch proudly lives on!<\/p>\n

And during the South Burnett-Cherbourg On Show<\/strong><\/a> long weekend, if your idea of a relaxing weekend is having a long lazy lunch with friends (and zero washing up afterwards!), you can relive the dream.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, October 3 Cranes Winery at Booie (9km north-east of Kingaroy) will be serving up platters and wines between 10:00am and 4:00pm, with popular local musician Guy Davis performing from noon and 2:00pm to provide extra fun.<\/p>\n

And on Sunday, October 4, Cranes will be hosting the ultimate in relaxed long weekend barbecues.<\/p>\n

Between 10:00am and 4:00pm, Cranes will be firing up their barbies for the annual Big Booie BBQ, cooking up great eye fillet steak sandwiches served with hand-made condiments, while guests lean back and take in the winery’s sweeping views across the rich red and black soil farmlands east of Kingaroy.<\/p>\n

Guy Davis will be back again, and Crane’s great mixed platters will be available too if you prefer a non-barbecue option.<\/p>\n

Margaritas and soft drinks will also be available for those who prefer non-wine options – and admission on both days is completely free (though no BYO food or drinks are allowed).<\/p>\n

In 2013 Cranes added a large, all-weather extension to their cellar door, so their long weekend lunches will run rain or shine.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But if it’s sunny and you’d like to picnic on the lawns, you’re very welcome to do so providing you bring along your own blankets or chairs, hats or umbrellas.<\/p>\n

Why? Because the winery’s own chairs, tables and under-cover seating will likely be full.<\/p>\n

And if you want to stay on-site or nearby after the party winds down, you can either book a stay in the winery’s on-site B&B or at Deshon’s Retreat (located next door to the winery) if Cranes is full.<\/p>\n
