Friends and family of Kingaroy’s Geiger family gathered at the Town Common Hall on Saturday night to “Celebrate Lynda” and launch a new cancer awareness program.<\/p>\n

Lynda Geiger was diagnosed with terminal cancer last year.<\/p>\n

A string of tumours, which have left her immobilised, were caused by melanoma so it was fitting that Saturday night’s get-together was also a fundraiser for the Melanoma Awareness Foundation.<\/p>\n

It also provided the perfect opportunity for Foundation CEO Brett Otto and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington to launch the “Lynda Geiger Young Mums Program”<\/p>\n

Brett said that Lynda had mentioned a few months ago that she wished she could do more “to prevent others from ending up in my situation”.<\/p>\n

“She is the most courageous and inspirational woman that I know,” he said.<\/p>\n

This led to the creation of the Lynda Geiger Young Mums Fund and its catchcry “#\u200ewheresyahatmummy\u202c”.<\/p>\n

“Where’s ya hat, mummy?” is a simple question that might just save a life …<\/p>\n
