A team of young runners on a mission will be heading to Kingaroy next month as the latest stop on a 3000km “baton relay” through 30 rural Australian towns.<\/p>\n

The runners are from an international Christian youth organisation called Youth With A Mission and they’re on what they call their “Pass It On Tour” .<\/p>\n

The runners, dubbed “Road Warriors”, pass an athletics baton from one runner to the next in a relay – to them, the baton represents the “wisdom of God”, being passed from one generation to another.<\/p>\n

The main group will arrive in Kingaroy on October 21.<\/p>\n

They plan to erect a marquee in Memorial Park between October 21-28 for their activities.<\/p>\n

After Kingaroy, the group will be heading to Wondai and Murgon.<\/p>\n

And when the Australian leg of the ‘”Pass It On” tour is completed in December 2013, the batons will travel to Europe, then on to Britain, across to Canada and the United States before returning to Brisbane to complete the run.<\/p>\n

“We will be working and interacting with schools, churches, community groups and the wider Kingaroy community,” YWAM director David Neibling said.<\/p>\n

“The week will be filled with seminars and mentoring programs in schools, after-school programs, a family focused art and writing competition for the youth, evening programs in the tents and various community service projects.”<\/p>\n

To cap off the week, the combined Church Ministers of Kingaroy will be hosting a free family barbecue on Saturday, October 27, from 5:30pm before hosting a free traditional Polynesian Island stage show by “Island Breeze” at 6:30pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
