The Cadets Grand Final of the South Burnett’s Junior Soccer competition for 2015 turned out to be as much of a nail-biter as the senior Grand Finals the weekend before.<\/p>\n

The match – between the Kingaroy Joinery Redbacks and the South Burnett Car Sales & Window Tinting Redbacks – was played at Tom Alford Oval in Kingaroy on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n

Both teams were keen for a win to end the season on a high note, but both also turned out to be very evenly matched.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Car Sales & Window Tinting Redbacks were the first side to find the back of the net, but they were joined by their opponents not long afterwards with the result that the teams were tied 1-all at half time.<\/p>\n

And when neither side could improve on the situation in the second half, the match went into 10 minutes of extra time.<\/p>\n

However this also failed to deliver any goals, so it was succeeded by a penalty shoot-out.<\/p>\n

But after the set five penalties, with the score at 3-3, the match moved to a sudden death end-game.<\/p>\n

The tension in the air was almost palpable when the Kingaroy Joinery Redbacks missed a shot.<\/p>\n

And the elation of the South Burnett Car Sales & Window Tinting Redbacks was obvious when their team-mate Oscar Schmidt made no mistake and slipped his kick past the goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

After the match, South Burnett Car Sales & Window Tinting Redbacks coach Martin Stern said he thought both teams had played well, but he was delighted his team had won all the same.<\/p>\n

Later in the day, in the U12\/13 Grand Final, Kingaroy Accounting and Tax Redbacks defeated King Air Redbacks 3-2.<\/p>\n
